BEYOND THE BASICS SERIES

Accuracy, Dexterity, Precision and Speed are all necessary skills that not only give more pleasure to shooting a firearm but skills required for personal protection. These courses are designed to help you achieve these skills through various levels of shooting. At the end of each Beyond the Basics Course, you should have a sense of accomplishing a skill set of shooting. Each course builds on the previous course. Range Safety, safely loading, firing and unloading your firearm will be emphasized to help you develop your skills at each stage of the courses.

 

The Objective of this Course is to:

Teach, Fine-tune and Build Confidence while helping the student to become more proficient with their Firearm of Choice for Personal Protection.

 

Prerequisite: Beyond the Basic Pistol Shooting I or be able to demonstrate abilities of Level I through a pre-course assessment.

 

Included in this 2-3 Hour Course are Lessons Covering

 

    1)  The rules of gun safety, as well as, basic rules and commands on the range

    2)  Stances and gripping the firearm

    3)  Fine tuning sight alignment, sight picture and flash sight picture

    4)  Trigger Control and shot placement

    5)  Grip Control with Strong Hand and Weak Hand

    6)  Safe drawing your firearm from a holster and Introduction to close-up defensive shooting

    7)  Live fire drills with weak hand and strong hand on weak and strong side stages

We will be doing Live Fire Drills on the Range. You will need to bring a minimum of 200 rounds of ammunition for the caliber of firearm you will be using.

Students will provide their own Pistol and proper ammunition for your gun.  A comfortable Side-Holster is optional and should be an Outside the Waistband  (OWB) style holster.
